That it is harmful to the land is something I learned only recently. It is virtually unknown to the population.

Perhaps. Of being discovered, or of sowing chaos. Regardless, we have been forced to enact change now, lest we doom all of humanity to starve and perish as Valisthea dies around us.

... Well, it's not quite the same, but in Auldrant, there's something called the "Score", which foretells everything that's supposed to happen. And the people have gotten reliant on it. Too reliant. So many people have died and suffered because of it.
