[ nts i must go and reread the AMA ]

Unfortunately, mishap or not, getting trapped in a room full of pods overnight isn't going to have put them in people's good books. Although, could've been worse.

That remains to be seen. People are pretty intense that they wouldn't have signed on out of their own free will.

[ ... ]

And I'll admit, given the last thing I remember, it would've been weird for me to up and agree to an eight week seasonal job.

Bumping into someone I wasn't too happy to see. I was supposed to be meeting them tomorrow-- well. Tomorrow from when I apparently lost my mind and took a part-time gig.

[ ... ]

It's important I talk to them. You?

It sounds like they believe we signed of our own free will. Which, again-- makes no sense if we literally had places to go and people to meet.

Mm. It's more like we'll be expected to honour the contract until it's proven otherwise that we signed it of our own free will. Might as well settle in and see what we can find out first.

[ ah, right. hang on, he's checking the I.R.I.S ]

... Right. So you're Dion, then?

[ he is doing his best and i, becks, support him. shu on the other hand looks to the side and then back again. ]

You can drop the 'sir'.

[ please drop the sir. ] The nanite stuff's pretty new to me too. It'll get easier with use.

It’s more a … sci-fi movie kind of thing where I’m from. “Here’s what the future could be like and how it could be really cool or terrible, no inbetween.”

[ sighs indeed. ]

Going into space isn’t a new thing, but we don’t have contact with other planets or interstellar courier services. [ a pause. ] Valisthea? [ does he fuck the pronunciation? i will leave that for spoon to decide. ] That where you’re from?

[ … honestly, you’re not wrong. ]

Yeah? Same. We’re all having a culture shock, it seems like.

[ some more so than others. ]

Evolution and development’s pretty wild. A lot of stuff’s been invented since I was a kid, and I don’t think it’s showing much sign of slowing down. [ even if apparently the inventions now are terrible and also digital eyeglasses for some reason. ]

… I’m guessing your technology is very different to what I’m used to, if this place is throwing you.

... You're not the first person who's talked about "magic" since I got here. That kind of stuff's only found in stories where I'm from.

[ fantasy tales and video games, but he's not going to try and explain vidya do the ye olde blond man who comes from a vidya game. ]

It's not like stuff like this pops up overnight. Where I'm from, space travel's only just becoming a possibility. People floating around in ships like this and making work trips to other planets? That's still just fantasy.

[ wow. ]

Capitalism still going strong even in other, way more swords and magic centred worlds? Shocking.

Lucky you. I think.

[ something something capitalism in and of itself is not bad, but people make it so. ]
